Mark Hughes told Football Focus on BBC One that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is acting ‘a little bit differently’.
The former Premier League boss thinks it’s down to the fact that ‘top managers’ like Klopp aren’t used to going through ‘difficult periods’.
A lot has been said from the Liverpool boss this season from their fixture scheduling to his fiery words with Sean Dyche in the Anfield tunnel in midweek.
Liverpool recently lost their Premier League unbeaten record on Thursday night to Burnley and Hughes was asked to share his thoughts on Klopp this season.
On Klopp being different this season: “I think it’s clearly pressure,” said Hughes. “It affects everybody in different ways.
“I used to say that the top managers find it difficult when they are going through difficult periods because they aren’t used to it. Whereas, myself, I had to get used to winning or losing every other week.
“But when the top managers go on a little bit of a run and sometimes they act a little bit differently or not the way they should do.”
Well, it’s another pressure cooker of a game for Liverpool today because they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup.
This can go either two ways for the Premier League champions because if they win then it can provide that much-needed boost and confidence they have been looking for.
Or another defeat and another game without scoring then the already drained confidence will drop even lower.
