The Stoke City boss is preparing his Potters side to face Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur take on Stoke City in the Premier League this weekend, hoping for a similar result to the one they picked up the last time they faced the Potters.
In mid-April a rampant Dele Alli-inspired Spurs romped to a 4-0 win at the Britannia Stadium in a performance that had Leicester City quaking at the top of the Premier League table.

It was a performance that had many believing Spurs would go on to usurp the surprise leaders Leicester and claim the Premier League title.
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was certainly something of a believer.

Speaking to the press today ahead of this weekend’s clash he made it clear that he felt Spurs were perhaps the best team his Stoke side faced last season.
Hughes stated:
“They are an outstanding team.
“Their performance here was arguably the best we came up against last season.
“That’s high praise because obviously we are facing good teams here week in and week out.
“They looked a team that, at that point, looked likely to win the league.”

Of course that result was the precursor to Tottenham’s end of season collapse that saw them end up finishing the campaign third, behind local rivals Arsenal, after picking up just two points from a possible 12 in the final four games of the Premier League season.
Spurs have yet to truly lift off this season and will be hoping for a similar result against the Potters this weekend, but with a different tail following it.
