Aston Villa loanee is under fire after clash with Reading striker.

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings is facing a torrent of criticism after injuring Reading striker Nelson Oliveira at the weekend.

Oliveira had to undergo surgery on Sunday after Mings’ boot landed on his face, Sky Sports reported.

Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey has given his verdict on the incident and says he believes Mings should be charged with violent conduct.

He was asked for his view via Twitter and says the Villa loanee has a case to answer.

Mings like Oliveira was making his debut for his club in the Championship clash.

BBC Sport reported that Mings wrote in a since deleted Twitter post that he was ‘awfully sorry’ for Oliveira and ‘nobody feels worse’ that he does.

That did little to appease Reading fans, who want to see the defender given a substantial ban.
