It is fair to say Manchester United have not always been on the right end of referee calls this season, and it is starting to add up.

While they are still in the hunt for a top-four finish, Ruben Amorim’s side could be even closer if a few decisions had gone their way.

Mark Clattenburg has not been shy about highlighting how some calls have worked against them, and it has not gone unnoticed by fans or players.

The latest flashpoint came against Bournemouth when Antoine Semenyo avoided punishment after grabbing Diogo Dalot by the neck.

That incident just adds to what feels like a growing list this year, and the club have decided that enough is enough.

Casemiro’s red card against Chelsea added another layer to the growing frustration. It was a soft call that left him stunned, and the fallout sparked plenty of debate.

Fed up with these decisions, the Red Devils now believe that change is needed.

According to the Daily Mail, United want to sit down with PGMOL chief Howard Webb early next year to discuss the issues.

The club have taken issue with multiple decisions this season, feeling they could be what stands between them and a top-four finish.

While Amorim himself has not stepped in directly, other voices inside Old Trafford are raising concerns over how frequently these errors are happening.

One situation stood out when Webb apologised after Nathan Collins stayed on the pitch despite denying a clear scoring chance in Brentford’s 3-1 win.

Moments like that have only added fuel to United’s frustrations.

Mark Clattenburg says Manchester United’s complaints could lead to more issues for the Premier League

United have made a bold decision in an attempt to prevent future mistakes, given the numerous referee errors occurring weekly.

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has spoken with United in Focus, stating that the Red Devils’ complaints are detrimental to the tournament.

“All clubs are having issues with referees decisions, and they know each place they move up the Premier League is worth over £1 million.

“The league this season is as tight as it’s ever been, and each win can move many places. We saw two seasons ago when Nottingham Forest complained; it had a negative impact on the club.

“When one of the biggest clubs complains about the standard of refereeing, this will create problems in the Premier League and PGMOL.

“The world we are living in now, we cannot accept mistakes that are having a financial impact on the clubs.”
