The former striker partner of Arsenal legend Ian Wright admitted leaving the Madejski Stadium early on Tuesday night and missing the Gunners fightback.
While an Arsenal fan pictured on screen going to get an early halftime snack was frantically trying to ‘clear his name’ of walking out on his team early on Tuesday night – Even tweeting a picture of him at the final whistle – one pundit missed a real treat.
Mark Bright described Reading’s 7-5 defeat to Arsenal as ‘one of the best cup ties he had ever seen’, although quite how he purported to have ‘seen’ the fightback from outside the stadium is beyond us.
The former Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic striker is now a pundit and commentator for the BBC, and appeared on the channel’s League Cup Show last night.
He recounted his ill-judgement, describing himself as an “amateur.”
“I went to the game, I wanted to have a look, and I left with 10 minutes to go at 4-2, I thought it’s a bit too much I’ll listen to it (the rest) in the car.
“I nearly spun round and went back.”
Don’t worry Mark, you only missed another SIX goals.
At least Bright is not a supporter of Arsenal, but it was a bad decision as a football fan none the less.
As tales of leaving early go though, none can top George Best, who famously walked out of the Nou Camp in 1999 with Manchester United 1-0 down. He was in a taxi leaving the stadium when United bagged two late goals and won the Champions League.
