Rangers are looking to bring a new striker to Ibrox in January.

Rangers director of football Mark Allen has told The Scottish Herald that he may well look to bring in another striker during the January transfer window.
The Gers beat Livingston 3-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon to go second in the Scottish Premiership table, but the game did bring up a well-known issue with Steven Gerrard’s squad.
Top goalscorer Alfredo Morelos was rested for much of the game as Kyle Lafferty started in attack, but the Northern Irishman struggled to make an impact once again.
Morelos was therefore called on from the bench and – unsurprisingly – scored to make it 2-0, and whilst fans will be delighted with his form, Rangers are becoming alarmingly reliable on Morelos to score.
Loanee Umar Sadiq has been a disaster since his arrival from Roma over the summer, and after just one start for the club, he could well be sent back to Italy in January.
That would leave Rangers needing a third striker, with links to Liverpool’s Domonic Solanke seemingly never-ending, following summer speculation about a move for the England Under-21 international forward.

Now, director of football Mark Allen has admitted that Rangers are in the market for strikers, just like any other club would be, but only wants players who are actually going to improve the squad; key after Sadiq’s struggles.
“I think we have been quite good in our recruitment in terms of making sure we have got adequate cover in most positions. You are always looking for someone that can put the ball in the back of the net, that happens at every football club every day. The fact we are always looking at strikers won’t be a surprise to anybody or any director of football or manager.”
“I just think it depends on the type of player that becomes available at that moment in time. You look at it and ask one simple question: ‘Can this player improve where we are right now? And if the answer to that is yes and the opportunity is there to do it then you do it. The board have been excellent in backing all of our requests, whether that be frees or fees paid and I just think you have to look at the player. I won’t take a player just because he is free. He has to be right for Rangers and has to be able to improve what we have already got. That conversation is one that myself and the manager have on a regular basis,” he added.
