Aston Villa and Southampton reportedly want Joe Aribo, but he has joined Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers instead.

Scottish Premiership club Rangers have signed Aribo on a free transfer following the midfielder’s departure from Charlton Athletic this summer.
According to The Herald, Southampton and Villa wanted to sign the 22-year-old midfielder, but it was Rangers who won the race to the youngster’s signature.
Rangers Director of Football Allen has praised the club’s signing of the youngster this summer.
Allen told The Herald about Aribo: “We fought off a lot of competition, I don’t think there is any secret in terms of the teams that were interested in Joe. He felt that this was the right project for him.
“We are satisfied where are with it and he was a target from very early doors. I think the proof is in the pudding when the player signs on the dotted line. We are under no illusions about the level of this club, the exposure, the 50,000 every other week.”

Good signing for Rangers?
Aribo is a very good and promising young midfielder, and Rangers needed a dynamic player like him this summer in order to enhance the quality of their squad for next season.
George Edmundson, Sheyi Ojo and Greg Stewart have also joined Rangers this summer, while Jake Hastie and Jordan Jones have officially completed their moves to Ibrox after signing pre-contract agreements with the Gers back in January 2018 and Steven Davis has signed a permanent contract with the Scottish Premiership outfit after a loan spell.
