Glasgow Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield and the Ibrox club’s Director of Football Mark Allen comment on Gers’ manager Steven Gerrard’s pre-season training.

Ibrox club Rangers have signed a number of players so far in the summer transfer window, including Scott Arfield and Jon Flanagan.
The Gers also defeated Bury 6-0 at Ibrox in a pre-season friendly match this past weekend, having got the better of Welsh side TNS in a behind-closed-doors game at the Hummel Training Centre earlier..
Rangers were in Spain for a 10-day training camp, too, and the Scottish Premiership club’s Director of Football Allen has spoken of his delight.
The Glasgow Evening Times quotes Allen as saying: “I think, as pre-seasons go, it couldn’t have gone much better.
“It was a great opportunity for the new manager and his staff to integrate with everybody else, to get to know his playing staff, to evaluate certain things, to get a good feel and to set a tone, if you like, for the season, which he did very clearly.
“It was a very productive training camp, the lads worked extremely hard and there were a number of pictures coming back showing that. I think we all felt it was a very productive trip.”
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Canada international midfielder Arfield, who joined Rangers on a free transfer from Burnley in the Premier League in England in the summer transfer window, has admitted that it was the hardest pre-season of his career.
Arfield told The Daily Record: “It is the hardest pre-season I have ever done and it shows by how dynamic we were against Bury.”

Looking ahead
Rangers will take on FK Shkupi in a Europa League qualifier this week, and the players will head into the first leg of the tie high on confidence.
The Gers will be expected to win against their opponents, and the performance will also give the fans an idea of how the team are going to do in the season ahead.
There is a certain buzz around Ibrox at the moment, and it seems that Rangers are on the verge of something great.
