Nice are interested in signing Mario Lemina from Southampton, according to Le10Sport.

What’s the story?

It is being reported this morning that French club Nice want to sign Lemina from Premier League outfit Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Ligue 1 club have made an offer of €4 million (£3.42m) to the Saints.

Discussions are going on between Nice and Southampton over the transfer of the former Marseille midfielder.

Nice manager Christophe Galtier has reportedly made signing Lemina a priority.

Could a transfer happen?

Lemina cost Southampton £15.4 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Juventus in the summer of 2017, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.

Much was expected of the Gabon international when he arrived at St. Mary’s Stadium, but the 27-year-old has not been great.

The former Marseille midfielder spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Galatasaray and last season on loan at Fulham.

It is likely that Southampton will sell Lemina this summer, but it is hard to see the Saints accept an offer of just €4 million (£3.42m).

After all, Southampton paid £15.4 million for the 27-year-old, and selling him for only €4 million (£3.42m) would mean a considerable loss.
