The Borussia Dortmund ace would be a useful addition for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp manager

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has a wonderful array of attacking talent at his disposal at Anfield, but it could be argued that he needs to add at least one more forward to his ranks, in order to keep his front three on their toes.

With his in mind, the Reds should consider revisiting their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Mario Götze.

The 26-year-old has experienced some what of a renaissance since rejoining Dortmund from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016 for around £20 million.

Götze, on his day, is a truly world-class player, and with his technical ability and superb dribbling skills, he would offer Liverpool that little bit extra in the final third.

The Germany international wanted to join the Reds in the summer, according to the Express, so Klopp could surely tempt the forward into a switch to Anfield this month.

At 26, Götze has won pretty much all there is to win in the game, including five Bundesliga titles and a World Cup winner’s medal.

He lacks any kind of real pace, but more than makes up for that with one of the most intelligent football brains in the game.

The German’s contract with Dortmund expires in the summer of 2020, so Lucien Favre might just be tempted into selling him this month, rather than allow him to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the end of this season.

Liverpool are on the verge of winning their first league title since 1990, and if they mange to bring Götze to Merseyside this month, it might just prove to be the signing that helps take them over the line.
