Tottenham Hotspur should prioritise Mario Gotze over Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Tottenham Hotspur are being linked to some very good midfielders this summer, but recently, the spotlight burns bright on Jack Grealish and Mario Gotze.

Spurs have already offered £15 million for the Aston Villa product but, according to The Mirror’s Transfer Blog earlier this week, the Villans want around £30 million for the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also ‘keeping tabs’ on Borussia Dortmund star Gotze according to The Mirror, with the 26-year-old valued at around £18 million.

And if it comes down to a choice between the two, surely the North Londoners must punt for Gotze.

Pochettino is yet to win a trophy since joining the Lilywhites in 2014 and serious questions will be asked if Spurs fail to end their 11-year trophy drought next season.

Simply put, someone of Gotze’s ability is far more likely to help the North Londoners achieve that than Grealish who, despite being very talented, only has 34 Premier League appearances under his belt.

Gotze, on the other hand, has 10 major trophies on his CV – including a World Cup, having scored the winning goal in the final four years ago – and fans should be angry if someone of that experience is overlooked for the Aston Villa star – especially at £18 million, a snip.

Nobody doubts Grealish’s potential, but if Tottenham are still spending big money on potential then something is majorly wrong. The time is now.

Pochettino needs tried-and-tested class players for next season, not one after that, and unless he starts buying them, Spurs’ drought could go on a lot longer.
