The Wolfsburg hitman would be a useful addition to the Liverpool squad this summer.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp is surely looking to strengthen his squad further still this summer, before the start of the new Premier League campaign, as he looks to build a group of players who are capable of challenging for major honours on all fronts this term.
One particular area of Liverpool’s squad that could be improved is their forward department, with many of their attacking players all in the same mould. This led to their play becoming slightly one-dimensional last term, and there is a danger that they will be too predicable to play against this time around.
With this in mind, Klopp should consider signing a different type of striker, one with more of a physical side to his game, and who better than Wolfsburg hitman Mario Gomez.

At 32, the German is arguably on the downward spiral of his career, but there is no doubting the quality that he still possesses, and he would be more than capable of doing a job at Anfield for the next couple of seasons at the very least.
Gomez scored 16 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season, showcasing his wonderful ability to find space in tight areas – something that could prove to be a fantastic asset to Liverpool this term.
The former Bayern Munich hitman possesses a goalscoring CV that can be rivalled by few in the game, with 149 goals in 250 games to his name since 2009.
The 70-capped Germany international has incredible aerial strength, and he would offer the Reds more of a physical approach through the middle, should they need to revert to a plan B.
And if Klopp manages to bring him to Anfield this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Liverpool.
