Quoted by Sky Sports, former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has claimed he has advised Mamadou Sakho to leave the club in January.
The defender is a firm fan favourite at Anfield after impressing in recent years under both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.
He has found himself far out of the first team picture this season, though, after an incident in pre-season saw him sent home early by the German boss.

He has since failed to appear for the Reds, with persistent rumours suggesting that a move away is on the cards.
Balotelli is more than aware of how that can feel having found himself frozen out at Anfield this summer.
He left to join Nice and has since flourished and now says he has urged Sakho to do the same in the January transfer window.
“I speak with him from time to time. I said to him: ‘What a waste a player like you is not playing’,” Sky Sports quote him as saying.
“He has to leave. I said to him: ‘If you want, come to Nice.’ I am going to speak to him about it. In January, it would be good.”

Should Sakho decide to leave the club in January, it appears that he will have several options to stay in the Premier League.
According to the Mirror, West Ham United are plotting a move for the Frenchman as they look to improve their leaky defence.
That report also claims Sakho is keen to leave Merseyside and it will be interesting to see if the London Stadium is where he ends up.
