West Ham United are set to make their first signing of the transfer window.

West Ham United are set to complete their first signing of the January transfer window, with midfielder Joao Mario arriving on loan from Inter Milan.
As reported by Sky Sports, West Ham have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for £26 million.
Bringing in Mario would be an excellent move, with the Portugal international capable of adding dynamism to the West Ham midfield.

However, it is clear that there is further work for West Ham to do in order to improve their squad before the transfer window closes in less than a week’s time.
West Ham would benefit from bringing in a new, commanding centre-back who could help to organise matters at the heart of the defence for David Moyes’ side.

In addition, although Marko Arnautovic has thrived up front of late, a new attacker to play alongside him would also certainly be welcomed and would hopefully make West Ham significantly more productive in front of goal.
Mario should help to make West Ham more of a cohesive unit, but, with the club just three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, they have to address at least some of the other issues with their squad before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.
