Mauricio Pochettino is one of the best managers in the world, and the work that the Argentine has done at Tottenham Hotspur is superb.
Tottenham have progressed massively since 2014 and have established themselves as regular and serious challengers for the Champions League spots.
The North London outfit have finished in the top four of the Premier League for the pats two seasons and have gone close to winning the league title as well.
There is little surprise, then, that Spanish and European giants Real Madrid have been linked with Pochettino.
According to The Daily Mail, Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of Pochettino, and that initial contact has been made between the club’s officials and associates of the former Espanyol boss.
Pochettino himself has refused to rule out managing Madrid in the future, recently telling The Daily Mail that no one knows what is going to happen in the future.
Former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner, who now works as a pundit, has suggested that it could be tough for Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to keep hold of Pochettino if Madrid come calling, although he has rated it as a ‘Miss’.
Mariner told ESPN FC when discussing Pochettino to Madrid speculation: “He is going to go, it’s Real Madrid.
“I think, at Tottenham, yes, he has got unfinished business, they have not quite got to where he wants them to get, they are still sort of faltering again this season in the Premier League, but when Real Madrid come calling…
“Daniel Levy has got a big job on his hands to try and keep Pochettino. I am going to say it’s a Miss.”
