The Napoli man would be a superb summer addition for Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to add only the highest quality of footballer to his already strong group of players this summer, as he looks to guide his side to success on all fronts next season.
The Argentine has managed to transform Tottenham into perennial title contenders since his appointment as manager in the summer of 2014, but there still seems to be that missing link that is preventing them from winning a major trophy.
It could be argued that the Lilywhites need a truly world class performer amongst their ranks, to supplement that talents of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and co.
Napoli’s Marek Hamsik celebrates
With this in mind, Spurs should consider a bold move for Napoli star Marek Hamsik this summer.
The 29-year-old Slovakian has been one of Europe’s most highly-coveted talents over the past half decade, but is now entering his 11th year with the Serie A side, with his club continuing to rebuff offers for the talented play-maker.
Hamsik possesses supreme technical ability, and with his impeccably tight ball control and intricate passing, he would offer Tottenham an entirely different option in forward areas.
He can be deployed in the number 10 position just behind the main striker, or in a deeper lying midfield role, from where he would offer the north London outfit a more creative option, rather than what they get from their sometimes over-cautious setup.
In 259 Serie A appearances for Napoli, the 97-capped Slovakia international has scored 75 goals and he has not registered less than 10 assists in his last three seasons in league competition.
His potential arrival at Spurs would help ease the pressure on Christian Eriksen, who is under pressure to produce from a creative aspect week-in, week-out.
Hamsik is still under contract with Napoli until the summer of 2020, so he will not come cheap, but if Tottenham genuinely want to mix it with the big boys, they should make the signing of the Slovak their chief priority this summer,
