The big story in football on Monday was regarding Marcus Rashford and his apparent discontent at Manchester United.
The England star is apparently unhappy with his gametime at Old Trafford, and now, he’s considering his future at the club.
Understandably, this has put a number of Premier League teams on alert, and while no concrete links have surfaced as of yet, a move to Tottenham Hotspur would make the world of sense.
Indeed, there are two big reasons why a move to Spurs would be just what Rashford needs.
The first is Harry Kane.
After Tottenham’s FA Cup exit last week, the striker was apparently once again questioning his Spurs future, with the Standard reporting that it’s 50/50 as to whether or not he decides to push for a move this summer.
If Kane leaves, Tottenham will need a new attacker and if Rashford is on the market, that would make a lot of sense.
Another reason why a move to Spurs could be on the cards for Rashford is Antonio Conte’s track record of taking struggling players from Manchester United and improving them.
Look at Conte’s Serie A winning Inter team. The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian were all directly signed from Manchester United. Conte clearly likes to take players from the Red Devils and help them rediscover themselves, and Rashford is exactly the type of player the Italian would love to work with.
Conte loves a former United player and if Kane leaves, Spurs will need a new striker and a new poster boy. Rashford ticks both boxes on that front and he would be a very logical signing this summer.
