Marcus Maddison’s flirtation with Glasgow Rangers and Sheffield United hasn’t gone down all too well with some of his club’s supporters.

Asked on Instagram last night whether moves to Ibrox or Bramall Lane would appeal, Maddison left himself open to either possibility – saying that Rangers would be his ‘first choice’ Scottish club and admitting to singing Sheffield United’s ‘Greasy Chip Butty’ song around the house.

The attacking midfielder has long been linked with a move away from Peterborough United, having scored or made 122 goals in 206 games since his 2014 arrival at London Road.

But for a handful of Posh fans, whose side suffered a 4-0 defeat against their promotion rivals Luton Town on Saturday, Maddison’s Rangers and Sheffield United comments are the final straw.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…

Whether Rangers or Sheffield United – the latter of whom have been linked with Maddison in previous windows – would be interested in signing the 25-year-old ahead of next week’s transfer deadline remains to be seen.

Would Maddison be a good addition for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers or Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United?
