Marcus Edwards has ended his long association with Tottenham Hotspur.
Marcus Edwards has thanked Tottenham Hotspur on Instagram after he ended his near 15-year association with the club on Monday.
Tottenham confirmed on their official Twitter account that the club has reached an agreement with Portuguese side Vitoria for the sale of their 20-year-old winger.
Edwards came through the ranks of the North London club and a lot was expected of him when he was a teenager, but he wasn’t able to produce the goods for the club.
Nonetheless, Edwards sent this message from his personal Instagram account after he left Spurs, with the likes of Nkodou responding with ‘let’s go’, as well as other former and current Tottenham players.
Despite not being able to break into Tottenham’s first team after so much was expected of him, Edwards still has a chance to prove his worth elsewhere.
Edwards only made one appearance for the club and tha came in 2016 when he was brought on as a substitute during Spurs’ 5-0 win over Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
Nonetheless, it has been a pretty healthy summer transfer window for Spurs, whose best purchase was arguably midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, whilst they have also seemingly kept hold of their key players.
After the international break, Tottenham will welcome Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Palace have won back-to-back games in the league.
