The talented midfielder has found it difficult to get into the Tottenham side.
There is little doubt about the quality that Marcus Edwards possesses, with the talented young midfielder having produced some excellent displays for Tottenham Hotspur at youth level.
However, it appears that the 19-year-old will have to wait a little longer before he is given a sustained opportunity to impress in the first-team after he was overlooked for Wednesday’s Champions League game at home to APOEL Nicosia.
Edwards, a gifted midfielder who is extremely composed in possession, made his senior debut for Tottenham as a substitute in the EFL Cup against Gillingham last season.
However, since then Edwards has yet to receive a subsequent call-up to the first-team squad for a competitive fixture, even though there have been several opportunities when Pochettino could have used him in the League Cup or the Champions League.
Though he has had some problems with injury, there have been some concerns about Edwards’ work-rate and if that issue is to be addressed then the best possible option would be for him to go on loan when the transfer window opens next month.
Playing regularly and helping his temporary side to battle for vital points would be a hugely beneficial experience for Edwards and would enable him to return to Tottenham next season ready to push for a place in the first-team set-up.
