Tottenham sensation Marcus Edwards has sent his condolences to one of his former peers after he suffered a serious injury.

Ismail Azzaoui was regarded Tottenham’s top youth prospect in 2014/15, before he was curiously sold to Wolfsburg.

He went on to make his debut for the first team last season as a substitute, but has now suffered a serious injury blow which will keep him out for the season.

Azzaoui, posting on Instagram, wrote: “Unfortunately as you all know I think. My season is maybe finish for a injury that happened 2 days ago the diagnostic of the injury is the cruciate ligament, internal ligament and my cartilage but I still wanted to thanks all of you for all the message that make me fell better and stronger and I promise you That I will come back stronger. Thanks again.”

The 18-year-old had not yet featured for Wolfsburg this season, and this injury will delay his development.

He scored six goals in Tottenham’s under-18 side’s FA Youth Cup run to the semi-finals in 2015, months after signing from Anderlecht.

Edwards, now Tottenham’s most exciting player in his own right, posted a simple message containing emojis, conveying his best wishes.

Another former Spurs teammate Keanen Bennetts also urged him to ‘get back soon’, replying on his Instagram page.
