Antonsson has starred on loan from Leeds at Blackburn Rovers.
Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has told Swedish outlet FotbollSkanalen that he is unsure over his future at Elland Road after a season-long loan with Blackburn Rovers.
The 26-year-old was Garry Monk’s first summer signing at Leeds in the summer of 2016 from Swedish side FK Kalmar for a fee believed to be in the region of £2million.
However, he managed just three goals in 21 games in his debut season for the Whites, failing to provide adequate back-up to target man Chris Wood. Despite the latter’s departure, he was loaned to Blackburn.
Adopting a wide berth at the Lancashire-based club, Antonsson has scored eight goals in 32 games as Tony Mowbray’s side gained promotion back to the Championship. Asked where he stands on his future at Leeds, Antonsson said he does not know.
“I really do not know,” Antonsson said on his future. “I have told my agent that I want to finish the season here first. I only know that I have one year left for the deal with Leeds, and that’s what I’m talking about.
“If something else pops up, you can get it from there. We have not yet talked to them yet. I know that those discussions will come here [Blackburn] in the future. They have not begun either.”
As Antonsson says, he has one year remaining on the three-year deal he signed at Elland Road, which the Daily Star claim is worth £6,000 a week.
Leeds are likely to be on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with Pierre-Michel Lasogga failing to meet the required standard during his loan from Hamburg. Caleb Ekuban has scored only one Championship goal all season.
