Leeds United winger Marcus Antonsson may just have found a way to give himself a lifeline at Elland Road, after being tested out at right-wing against Bursaspor yesterday.
Antonsson was brought to Leeds last summer, but his first season at Elland Road did not work out as expected.
The Swede struggled for goals and action with the Whites, and quickly fell down the pecking order.
Antonsson’s Leeds future has already fallen into doubt, but it seems that Thomas Christiansen may have a new plan for the 26-year-old.
Antonsson played as a right-winger for Leeds, during their 3-0 defeat against Bursaspor yesterday, in a behind-closed-door friendly.
Although the forward did not particularly impress in his new role, he may find competition for places less fierce there than he has up-front.
Antonsson has failed to dislodge Chris Wood from Leeds’ first-team, and the arrival of Caleb Ekuban this summer has pushed him further down the selection order.
And it may be that Antonsson has to impress at right-wing now, if he is to have any chance of saving his Leeds career.
