Antonsson has joined League One club Blackburn on a season-long loan deal from Championship outfit Leeds in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old striker moved to the West Yorkshire outfit from Swedish club Kalmar FF in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Lancashire Telegraph to be in the region of £2 million.
The Swede arrived at Elland Road with a good reputation, but he was able to make only six starts in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign, scoring just one goal in the process.
Antonsson has taken to Twitter to send messages to Leeds and Blackburn after making the loan switch.
Meanwhile, Antonsson has explained his move from Leeds to Blackburn, suggesting that it was the Championship club’s decision.
“I’m doing very well in England and the basic idea has always been to stay in Leeds, but I have to think about my career,” Antonsson told Barometern, as translated by Sport Witness.
“Leeds have been quite clear about loaning me. It’s a pity, I’ve been doing well, but this opens up other possibilities for me.”
Leeds will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season, while Blackburn will be aiming to get automatic promotion from League One at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
