Leeds United’s Pawel Cibicki only made his Championship debut on Saturday.
Marcus Antonsson has told Kvallsposten that he sympathises with Leeds United’s Pawel Cibicki over his less than impressive start in West Yorkshire.
The Swedish attacker joined Leeds from Malmo in a £1.5 million deal in August but only made his Championship debut in Saturday’s 3-1 win away to QPR, coming off the bench to set up Kemar Roofe’s second of the afternoon at Loftus Road.
Prior to that, the 23-year-old had been an unused substitution in four successive Championship games from mid-September to early October, and only appeared in League Cup outings.
Antonsson, a £2 million signing under Garry Monk 18 months ago, can relate only too well after struggling in his first season at Elland Road, before being loaned to Blackburn in League One.
.”I’m not right to comment on it. It’s clear it’s tough, you always want to play matches and I understand how he feels,” the 27-year-old told Kvallsposten.
“It’s when you play you develop. I am convinced he is working well in training there.
“It’s just about getting your head down and driving on until finally the chance comes, and then take it.”
Cibicki’s cameo on Saturday might well be the watershed moment in his Leeds career, but Antonsson had a few of those and never kicked on so the emphasis for the former Malmo star is to make sure he does the business again if he faces Norwich City on Saturday.
