The Swedish striker arrived from Kalmar in the summer.
This summer Leeds United snapped up Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson from Kalmar.
He arrived at the club from his homeland as the top scorer in the Allsvenskan. It was an ambitious move from Leeds to bring him into the club from Sweden and he has now been speaking about his transfer to Elland Road.
He explained when he first heard of interest from Leeds and how he did have other options, including from rival Championship clubs.

“Yes (there was interest from other Championship teams), but there was also interest from France and other European countries. Without commenting clubs…
“I was on the golf course with (Kalmar players) Tobias Eriksson and Stefan Larsson. My agent called and told me that Leeds wanted to come up with an offer, I knew immediately that this is exciting.”
But he went on to explain why he decided that he wanted to head to Leeds ahead of other interested clubs:
“Leeds is an great historic team and a really big club. (My agent) Anders Karlsson also had for years talked about that he thought I would be perfect in English football with my way of working hard and he has always thought that I have “British style”.

“When it came time to train with Kalmar after the Euros Leeds did not want me to do so. It was only then everything became real to me. Then it was clear. I went home to my family in Halmstad and trained on my own. On Midsummer’s Eve, I got the green light and went over to Leeds.”
Antonsson has had to play second fiddle to Leeds’ current striker Chris Wood throughout most of the season, with the New Zealand international in good form at Elland Road.

The Swede has therefore played most of his games as a substitute but his attitude and friendly demeanour has won over many Leeds fans.
On top of that he certainly has something about him that could prove fruitful in English football. He will now be looking to add to his three goals for the Yorskhire club as the season continues.
