Leeds booked their place in the last eight with a dramatic win over Norwich City.
Marco Silvestri has admitted that he is hoping that Leeds United are drawn against Liverpool in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup, even if he knows the fans hope for a different draw, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
The Italian was the Whites’ hero in the last 16 as he saved three penalties in the shootout to help Garry Monk’s men to a dramatic win over Championship rivals Norwich after the game had finished 2-2 after extra-time.

And with just three ties left to be played before the draw is made for the last eight, Silvestri has conceded that he is hoping for a glamour tie, but suggested that the supporters may feel slightly differently.
“Anfield,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, when asked where he would like to go in the next round.
“When I was in young in Italy, a lot of times Sky Sports showed Liverpool’s match and every time I watched it because I loved the atmosphere at Anfield which I think is one of the best stadiums in the world.
“I think the fans hope to go to Old Trafford against Manchester I think! But they are excited because we are in the quarter finals now so Tuesday night’s win was very important.”

With just two Championship teams in the hat for the next round, it seems likely that a game against a top flight side will be on the horizon for Leeds.
And Silvestri will surely be more delighted about that than anyone else. The competition has provided the stopper with his only first-team appearances this season as Rob Green has played all of the club’s league games.
And while his penalty heroics would have helped send a message to Monk, a man of the match display at Anfield or Old Trafford would surely boost his chances of reclaiming his number one spot enormously.
