Marco Silva has done a fine job to revive Hull City’s fortunes and should be given the chance to build on his success.

Marco Silva took charge of Hull City in January after a poor run of form under previous manager Mike Phelan left them with only 12 points from their opening 19 games of the season.

A nine game winless run under Phelan prompted the Hull owners to make a change, appointing former Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos manager Marco Silva.

Since the Portuguese took charge, he has won six of his seven home games to keep Hull City with a fighting chance of Premier League safety.

Although the recent defeat to Sunderland took their survival hopes out of their own hands, Silva has still improved a struggling Tigers side that seemed destined for relegation in the early part of the season.

Hull’s struggles have come away from home under the 39-year-old, where they have only picked up two points from their nine away games, both of which were goalless draws against Manchester United and Southampton respectively.

Marco Silva may not have worked the miracles that other managers manage to steer their clubs clear of relegation, but what he has provided is a solid platform at the KCOM Stadium to make Hull difficult to beat and a different beast than away from their own turf.

Whether they survive or not remains to be seen, but Silva has provided a foundation for success with the clubs form at home and a foundation that the Portuguese coach should be given the chance to build on, whether in the Premier League or the Championship.
