Everton manager Marco Silva has suggested to The Daily Mail that the club are interested to signing Andre Gomes on a permanent contract from Barcelona.

Gomes joined Everton on a season-long loan deal from Spanish and European giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old central midfielder has been playing well for the Toffees in recent weeks and has established himself as an important figure in the Merseyside club’s team.

Everton manager Silva has suggested that he will look to make Gomes’s loan deal permanent, a decision which is certainly going to make the Goodison Park faithful delighted.

Silva told The Daily Mail about Gomes: “I think we have time to do that. In the right moment we have to do something to (sign) a player like Andre.”

Expensive?

According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona paid Spanish rivals Valencia an initial transfer fee of £29 million to sign Gomes in the summer of 2016.

Barca may not have any need for the central midfielder anymore, but the European giants are unlikely to let the Portugal international leave on the cheap and will demand a hefty transfer fee.

Everton should be prepared to pay at least what Barcelona had to cough up when they recruited Gomes.
