Everton boss Marco Silva is keen to keep Andre Gomes at Goodison Park on a long-term basis.

Marco Silva has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that Everton have a ‘very good opportunity’ to sign Andre Gomes on a permanent transfer.

Gomes has joined Everton on loan from Barcelona, and his first season at Goodison Park has been a huge success.

The Portuguese international has enjoyed a wonderful debut campaign in English football, and he is now firmly established as one of the stars of Everton’s team.

Gomes was in brilliant form for Everton as they beat West Ham United 2-0 at the weekend, in a thoroughly dominant performance.

And Silva has made no secret of the fact that he wants Gomes to stay on Merseyside for the long-term.

“It is a very, very good opportunity for us,” the Everton boss admitted.

“But what we have inside our squad, even if he is a loan player, a player with high quality, high quality as a football player, high quality as a professional, a fantastic team-mate for all his colleagues and he is everything we expect coming from a player of his quality.

“Let’s see if we can have Andre permanently in our club.”

Everton’s performance against West Ham was arguably their best display of the season to date.

The Toffees appear to be starting to click, after a poor run of form in the middle of the campaign.

Everton are now ninth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Arsenal on Sunday.
