Everton midfielder Tom Davies has struggled for game time this season, but impressed during his last appearance for the club.

Marco Silva has told Click Liverpool that Tom Davies is going to be such an important player for Everton in the future.

There were some concerns about Davies’s development at Everton this season, as he has struggled badly for game time.

Silva overlooked Davies for more experienced options on multiple occasions, but he was forced to pick the 21-year-old last weekend.

With Everton short on numbers in midfield, Davies partnered Andre Gomes in the centre of the pitch and he impressed.

Everton picked up a 2-0 victory over West Ham United, with their performance ranking amongst their best of the season.

And Silva insists that he still believes in Davies’s talents.

“I see him performing really well, taking his responsibility on the pitch and giving his best to the blue shirt,” he said.

“Of course [not] everyone looks at him in a fair way. We look to him as an important player for us in the present and will be in the future as well.

“It’s the most important thing to Tom and to prove his quality for us and our fans and look for nothing more, because the most important thing is here.

“The other things are not important.”

Davies will now be hoping to start again this weekend for Everton, even though they have more options back.

Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin have both returned to training, so Silva does have more players to pick from.

Everton’s next game comes against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow.
