Marco Silva’s Everton suffered a narrow defeat to Leicester City on New Year’s Day in the Premier League.

Everton boss Marco Silva has revealed that he told his players that there was ‘no reason’ for them to be ‘nervous’ or ‘anxious’ during their 1-0 defeat to Leicester City at Goodison Park.
The Toffees, who were lacklustre throughout the match, failed to properly test the opposition keeper as they suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.
Following a goalless first period, the away side took the lead in the second half when striker Jamie Vardy pounced on an Everton mistake to net the only goal of the match.
Theo Walcott, from an opposition goal kick, headed the ball, under no pressure, towards his own defensive half, which was mis-controlled by Michael Keane as Vardy punished his England teammate for his error.
After the encounter, Silva revealed what he told his Everton players as he urged them to embrace the Goodison Park crowd rather than struggle to perform in it.
“I told them [Everton players], no reason to do that [be nervous & anxious],” Silva told Sky Sports post-match on 01/01/2019 at 2:50 pm. “If you look towards our performance and results, we didn’t be consistent. But it is no reason to be so anxious or so nervous.

“Many, many moments of the match, our fans, they were behind our squad and it’s no reason to do that. You are playing at this level, for a club like Everton, you have to show and prove the capacity every week to handle his normal pressure.”
Prior to the other league fixtures taking place, Everton currently occupy 10th spot in the table, but they could fall as low as 13th if results go against them.
They have lost four out of their previous five league matches, conceding 12 goals and scoring eight in the process.
The Merseyside club will now be hoping to turn their results in a positive way when they face Lincoln City in the FA Cup at the weekend – the Imps have some history in this competition after they knocked out Burnley two seasons ago when they were a non-league side.
