Everton are the only side in the Premier League yet to concede a goal this season.

(EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE) Marco Silva speaks to the media during the Everton press conference at USM Finch Farm on August 16, 2019 in Halewood, England.

Marco Silva has told Everton’s official website that he doesn’t think that his side would have won against Watford last season.

Everton picked up a 1-0 victory over Watford at Goodison Park at the weekend, despite not being at their best.

And Silva feels that Everton have an added resilience to their game that they didn’t have last term now.

“I have a feeling, if this game was last season, we would not have won,” Silva said.

“Our second half was not the best but we kept solid and the players’ attitude was always fantastic, even if Watford created problems for us.

“It was a good chance [to show Everton can grind out a result] because in some moments you have to win even if you don’t perform really well.

“That will make a big difference at the end of the season.”

Everton are the only team in the Premier League to have made it through their first two games of the campaign with conceding.

Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have been excellent at centre-back, while Jordan Pickford has caught the eye in goal.

Everton scored their goal against Watford through Bernard, and their defence shone from that point onwards.

The Toffees will need to get better going forward if they are to achieve their aims this season though, with Silva’s side’s next match coming against Aston Villa.
