Watford have reported agreed a deal to sign Kieran Gibbs.
The report claims that Watford have agreed a fee of £5 million with Arsenal for the 27-year-old. However, Watford could face problems in agreeing personal terms with the defender, who pockets around £80,000 per week.
Gibbs, who emerged from the club’s youth academy and made his senior debut for the Gunners in 2007, is now the third-choice left-back at the club behind Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac.
Marco Silva looks to bring a new left-back before the close of the transfer window, and is set to beat other potential suitors for his signature.
If he can pull off the deal, it will be a superb signing for the club.
At one point of time, Arsenal were looking for a fee in the region of £12-£15 million for Gibbs. Watford waited for the right moment, and agreeing a deal for half of Arsenal’s asking price is a great business.
Gibbs is an experienced defender and is good enough for any mid-table Premier League side. He will add quality, experience, and depth to Silva’s side.
