Everton striker Oumar Niasse is wanted by Cardiff City, says Marco Silva.

Everton manager Marco Silva has told The Daily Mail that Cardiff City are interested in signing Oumar Niasse in the January transfer window.

BBC Sport recently reported of Cardiff’s interest in signing Niasse on loan from Premier League rivals Everton this month, with an option to make the move permanent.

Silva told The Daily Mail: “Strong interest coming from Cardiff. But nothing is done yet. We have to wait to see if the teams go this way or not but I can tell you the interest is strong.”

Leaving Everton

Niasse has been on the books of Everton since January 2016 when he joined from Lokomotiv Moscow for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £14 million.

The Senegal international striker has failed to make a massive impact at Goodison Park and is struggling for playing time at the moment.

The 28-year-old has played just 58 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, while during the 2017-18 campaign, the striker scored eight goals and provided two assists in 1083 minutes in the league for Everton, according to WhoScored.

With Cardiff needing a goalscorer in order to stave off relegation to the Championship, Niasse will be a good signing for the Bluebirds for the second half of the season.
