Everton are said to be keen to sign the Watford midfielder in the January transfer window.

Everton boss Marco Silva has swatted aside links with Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, which have surfaced this week, at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on Everton’s Youtube channel.

The Daily Mirror have suggested that Everton want to buy Doucoure, as they look to strengthen their midfield.

But Silva suggested that he is not even looking ahead to the January market yet, as he is happy with the squad he has assembled at Goodison Park.

Silva said, when asked if the links with the Watford man were true: “No, nothing.

“The rumours are normal, because the January market is close. I am happy we the team. Of course, we are always aware of everything and we are doing our job behind the scenes, but we have a lot of improve with our players.

“You always want to improve, but it’s nothing something in my mind at the moment, the January market.”

Everton have already bought from Watford this season, with Richarlison making the switch and doing brilliantly.

Silva knows Doucoure well from his time as boss at Vicarage Road, but it seems that Everton may have eyes on other targets.

Everton have made an impressive start to the campaign, and currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table.

The Toffees are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.
