Watford manager Marco Silva has told The Mirror that he is happy at Vicarage Road amid suggestions that he could be a target for Everton.
The Hornets let Walter Mazzarri go at the end of last season, and whilst a number of names were linked, Watford ended up winning the race to land Silva.
The Portuguese boss was a surprise choice to take over at Hull City in January of this year, and whilst he couldn’t keep the Tigers in the Premier League last season, he did show real promise as a Premier League manager.
Since taking over as Watford boss, Silva has impressed again, as the Hornets currently lie sixth in the Premier League table, just one point off the Champions League spots at this early stage of the season.
Silva’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed though, as Jamie Carragher suggested earlier this week that he should be Everton’s top managerial target after they sacked boss Ronald Koeman on Monday afternoon.
Despite only taking the Watford job over the summer, Silva is now just 11/2 for the Everton job with Sky Bet, with the Toffees searching for a manager who can take them forward, and fans are certainly behind a move for Silva.
However, Silva has told The Mirror that he is happy with Watford and there is no need to change, with his focus 100% on Watford ahead of this weekend’s game against Stoke City at Vicarage Road.
“I’m happy with the way we play, I’m happy that we compete in every match in our style, so why change?” said Silva. “I’m still here, since the first day I have been 100 per cent focused in my job, and my focus remains in the club and our next match.
“What I expect, and what I want, is to honour my obligation to work hard, to prepare for the Stoke game in the right way and not to lose our focus for a really hard match,” he added.
