Everton could look to a permanent move for Kurt Zouma this summer.

Everton boss Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo that he thinks there are many ways defender Kurt Zouma can improve.

The Toffees snapped up two new centre backs on deadline day back in August, landing Yerry Mina from Barcelona and taking Zouma on loan from Chelsea.

After suffering relegation on loan at Stoke last season, Zouma found himself on the fringes at Chelsea over the summer, and Everton managed to strike a deal.

So far, the Frenchman has made 23 Premier League appearances this season, picking up a goal and two assists for the Toffees along the way.

Whilst Mina has been a bit-part figure of late, Zouma has been a virtual ever-present for Silva, and Everton will surely pursue a permanent deal this summer.

Whether Chelsea would be open to selling the 24-year-old is another matter, but he needs to be settled and playing regularly, which Everton can offer him.

Now, boss Silva has admitted that he is ‘really happy’ with Zouma, praising him as a good teammate and an important player, even if he doesn’t know whether he’ll be at Goodison Park long-term.

Silva did though add that, if he’s being totally honest, there ‘many, many’ ways Zouma can still improve, and he is hoping to help the defender fulfil his potential.

“He is helping,” said Silva. “But to be honest with you, I see many, many conditions in which he can improve, and he knows because I speak to him everyday what I am demanding of him. But I am really happy with him, he is improving, trying, he is a good professional, he is happy in our club, he is a good team-mate and a really important player. Let’s see what we can do or not in the future. But it’s also about his opinion, about his future. But we are really happy with him,” he added.
