Everton boss Marco Silva has confirmed at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on Everton’s Youtube, that Phil Jagielka is still not ready to come back into the team.

Everton take on Millwall tomorrow in the FA Cup and there were suggestions from supporters that Jagielka could be given a chance.

The 36-year-old has played just twice for Everton this season, with other options favoured.

However, Jagielka is currently nursing an injury, and Silva claims that Everton defender is still short of fitness.

“[He is] not ready yet. It’s possible that he needs one or two more weeks to start training with the squad,” he said.

“Apart from that, no big problems; [we had] small problems during the week, but now everyone is OK apart from Jagielka.”

Silva has always insisted that Jagielka remains a part of his plans at Everton for now, but the former England international is badly struggling for game time.

Jagielka has only two appearance to his name this term, and was not even given the nod during Everton’s last match in the FA Cup.

The Toffees made it to the fourth round by beating League two side Lincoln City at Goodison Park.

Millwall should pose a tougher test, but Everton are still the favourites to come through against Championship opposition.
