Marco Silva has told Everton’s official website that Andre Gomes showed the rest of his teammates at Goodison Park what he wants, with his goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Everton were beaten 3-1 by Wolves in their last match, and very few players in a blue shirt managed to play to their potential.

Gomes did, however, score a brilliant goal in the contest – as he blasted the ball in from the edge of the area.

And Silva wants Everton’s players to use Gomes as an example for their coming matches.

“It is something important, not just for him, but for all our midfielders, to arrive in that zone and shoot from outside the box,” Silva said.

“His goal was a very good example [of what I want to see from our players].

“We know our opponents will come here to press our team high, to break our pass solutions. In some moments we have to play short, but in other moments play differently.

“Not give opponents the chance to press our team high all the time. It was a good example, what Andre did in that moment.”

Everton’s defeat to Wolves has ramped the pressure up on Silva even further, after a poor run of form.

The Toffees have struggled badly for wins of late, and they have sunk down the Premier League table.

Everton’s fixture list is doing them no favours this evening, with the pressure on.

Silva’s men have to take on Manchester City, who could go top of the Premier League with a win.
