Lucas Digne was the hero as he helped Everton pick up a point in the last minute at Goodison Park yesterday.
Everton managed to claim a 2-2 draw with Watford at Goodison Park yesterday, with Digne being his side’s hero.
The French full-back curled in a set piece, even though most people expected Gylfi Sigurdsson to strike it.
Sigurdsson was lining up with Digne over the ball, but the Icelandic international let his teammate take the shot.
It was a wise decision, as Digne curled the ball beyond Ben Foster and into the back of the net.
And Silva said: “It was a fantastic moment for him. He showed not just his quality but his personality as well as a player when he took that decision [to take the free-kick].
“Maybe everyone was expecting it to be Gylfi [Sigurdsson] because it is a good decision for a right-foot shot.
“But Lucas has done well and it was a very good moment for him and to help our team.”
Everton’s performance in the contest was actually disjointed, and they could consider themselves slightly fortunate to come away with a point.
Everton were outplayed for large portions of the second half, but Watford just couldn’t get over the line.
The Toffees’ draw has left them sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table.
