Richarlison is Everton’s most valuable player it seems.
Marco Silva has told Everton’s official website that he knew Richarlison was going to be a success on Merseyside.
Silva brought Richarlison to Everton in a £40 million deal last summer [The Independent], having previously signed him for Watford.
The Brazil attacker enjoyed a solid first season at Goodison Park, netting 13 goals in 35 Premier League outings.
At only 22, Richarlison is going to get a lot better from here on in, and the Portuguese manager told the Toffees’ official website that he had no reservations about spending that sort of money at all.
He said: “I was 100 per cent sure Richarlison would fit perfectly into our club. It is a pleasure for me to see how he is developing.
“Richarlison is talented. But, equally important, he is a worker. I know he will invest everything into his development. He is already a really important player for Everton but he has many things to improve and will be even more important in future.”
The former Hornet is Everton’s second-most expensive player in history, behind Gylfi Sigurdsson who joined for £45 million the summer before.
If there is one criticism of Richarlison, it’s consistency. He scored his first three goals in his first two games for Silva’s side last term, only managing 10 from September until May.
It isn’t a bad return considering he wasn’t always leading the forward line, but there is, as Silva mentioned, still plenty of room for improvement.
