Everton striker Cenk Tosun appeared to be nearing a move to Eintract Frankfurt.

Everton boss Marco Silva’s comments on the Liverpool Echo seem to offer hope to Cenk Tosun that he could be used this season.

Tosun has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with BILD claiming recently that Eintract Frankfurt were interested in signing him.

However, Silva included Tosun in Everton’s match day squad against Watford last weekend.

And it seems that Silva still thinks that Tosun could have a use at Everton this season.

He said: “The game could become more open and a striker such as Moise Kean makes more sense if you want to change or if the game is tight then a striker like Cenk makes more sense because in a short space, if you look at his profile and the profile of Moise Kean – they are completely different.”

Kean has only just arrived at Everton, but does seem to have jumped in front of Tosun in the pecking order for places.

Tosun now appears to be third choice, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting both of Everton’s game up-front so far.

If Tosun does stick around it could still be a slight surprise, as it appeared that his time on Merseyside was up.

Tosun has struggled ever since moving to Everton, and it is rather surprising that he is being considered at all, with the season now well underway.
