Everton boss Marco Silva has told the club’s official website that Anthony Gordon is really pushing for a place in the first-team now.

Gordon has been one of the stars for Everton at development squad level, but senior chances have been few and far between.

The young forward has not been handed a first-team chance this term, despite often training with Everton’s senior squad.

But Silva feels that Gordon is now not far away from pushing into his side, with the Portuguese boss suggesting that he has changed so much over the past year.

“When I look to him, it is because he has really high quality,” Silva said.

“He changed something.

“His intensity is different, he is working with the first team, he changed something in his way to play in some moments.

“He is doing really well, it is up to him to keep working hard because with his level he will achieve the first team. I don’t have doubts about that.”

Gordon has six goals in six games for Everton development squads this term.

With the Toffees looking a goalscorer he could be an option, if Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean do not hit the back of the net prolifically.

Gordon’s real strength lies in his ability in possession though, as he is such a comfortable dribbler and creator of chances.

Everton are next in action at the weekend against Burnley, and it will be intriguing to see whether Gordon is included in Silva’s side’s match day squad.
