Everton’s 2-0 defeat at Fulham was a major source of frustration for Marco Silva.
Everton boss Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo that the stoppages in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Fulham were ‘not something normal’.
The Toffees travelled down to London off the back of a 1-0 win over Arsenal, making it one defeat in a six games and five clean sheets in that impressive run.
It looked like Silva was starting to make real progress with this Everton side, and a battle against already-relegated Fulham seemed like an ideal opportunity to pick up another win.
However, Everton flopped at Craven Cottage, as Tom Cairney scored just after half time before Ryan Babel – formerly of Liverpool – pounced to score the second.
Fulham’s winless run is over, and Everton fans are left to wonder whether this recent run of form was another false dawn under Silva, after such a disappointing defeat.
Silva wasn’t happy with the defeat, but was really frustrated at the amount of stoppages in the second half, feeling that Fulham players were hitting the deck to break up the flow of the game.
Silva felt that it wasn’t a good performance, but having the physio on the pitch so many times made it impossible for Everton to find intensity, branding the conduct ‘not something normal’.
“It was not a good performance for us. After it was 1-0, every five minutes medical staff were on the pitch,” said Silva. “It’s impossible to put press and intensity on the match when I don’t know eight, nine or ten times the medical staff were on the pitch. It’s not something normal,” he added.
