The Everton goalkeeper will be looking to put Sunday’s error behind him as soon as possible.
Everton boss Marco Silva spoke to reporters today ahead of his side’s clash with Newcastle United tomorrow night, and shared how Jordan Pickford has reacted this week, following his high profile error against Liverpool on Sunday, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees have made a decent start to their Premier League campaign, and currently sit in sixth spot in the table, but Sunday’s defeat to their fierce rivals Liverpool would have been a real bitter pill to swallow.
Pickford is a top class stopper, that cannot be denied, but he does seem to have the odd mistake in his game, and that could prove costly for Everton, unless he finds a way of eradicating the silly errors.
Silva addressed the media today, and insisted that he and all of his players are right behind the 24-year-old goalkeeper following his shocking error on Sunday, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“Jordan is in a normal way. He has been working as normal with the rest of his team-mates. We are analysing the match and that match is in the past. Jordan is a very good goalkeeper. He has given us loads in the past and in the future too. It is important for him to feel the support for us too. He doesn’t need many things but he is a professional. Now, he looks forward . He knows, all of them know, we are here and we are all together whether you win or lose because that is the team spirit we have in out dressing room.”
Pickford will be in the spotlight when Everton welcome Newcastle to Goodison Park tomorrow, and he will need to be on his best form, if he is to silence his growing band of critics.
