The Everton manager will surely be looking to bolster his ranks next month.
Everton boss Marco Silva addressed the media during his pre-match press conference, and delivered what has been his biggest hint yet regarding any potential January business, admitting that the winter market is always a difficult one to operate in, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The Blues were heavily active during the summer transfer window, and they have made a decent start to their 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
They currently sit in eighth spot in the table, two points adrift of sixth placed Manchester United, but much more is expected of Silva’s side.
Everton fans will be desperate for more quality to be brought into the club next month, but Silva insisted that January is an incredibly tough month to do business in, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“We do what we did in the summer. We improved our squad. It is my opinion that the January market is difficult. Even when you try and do something normal you spend more money than in the summer. It is a tough market. Me and Marcel are speaking every day about our squad like we do always. We are aware of everything. Let’s see what we can do or not.”
It is clear that Everton need to strengthen their squad pretty much in every department, but following Silva’s comments today, the Toffees might just have to be patient.
Sometimes it is better to buy players in the summer, where more value can be had, so Silva might just choose to wait until then before strengthening his options again.
