Everton boss Marco Silva is still under pressure despite his team rescuing a draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Marco Silva has seemingly defended Everton’s draw against Tottenham Hotspur by bringing up their recent record against the North London club.
The Toffees dropped points at home against a Spurs team that is yet to win away from home in the Premier League, but under-pressure Silva seemingly thinks that it is a good point for his side because Everton haven’t beaten the North London club since 2011.
Both Everton and Spurs are struggling this season, but it is Silva’s side who are sitting one place above the relegation zone, and it seems as though their League Cup run is dampening the pressure which is mounting on the former Hull boss.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (03/11/2019 at 7:10 pm), Silva defended Everton dropping points again, as he pointed towards what Spurs have been doing against the Toffees in recent years, claims which perhaps won’t sit well with the Goodison Park faithful.
“I know Tottenham haven’t won away this season yet, but they are a tough, tough team,” Silva told Sky Sports. “A team who when they play against Everton, they create many, many problems.
“I have to tell you, Everton didn’t win one game since 2011 against Tottenham. I have to be clear about the situation. We have tried [to get the win]. If you look through the game we deserved more of than win than them. In the first half, we should play better compared to the second.”

Everton will take on high-flying Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, and if they were to get knocked out of that competition then voices for Silva to be axed will only get louder.
The one crumb of comfort for Silva is that the Premier League table is still very congested. Whilst his team are sitting in 17th place, one win could see them leap from 17th all the way to 10th spot.
Added with that, only six points separate Everton and fifth-placed Arsenal, so it just goes to show how back-to-back wins can be so rewarding or how back-to-back defeats can be so damaging.
