Marco Silva comments on reported Southampton target Ademola Lookman

Everton winger Ademola Lookman is reportedly on the radar of Southampton.

Everton manager Marco Silva has told BBC Sport that Ademola Lookman played well in the 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

Lookman started the Premier League game at Goodison Park on Sunday and played for the entire 90 minutes.

The 21-year-old winger provided one assist, took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 71.4%, made two tackles and two interceptions, and played two key passes, according to WhoScored.

The England Under-21 international has made two starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Everton so far this season, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Everton manager Silva has praised the performance of Lookman, and has admitted that it was hard to get his mindset right.

Silva told BBC Sport about Lookman: “It was a fantastic performance and we know he is at that level, but he will improve more and more.

“It was tough to put his mind in the right way and I have been working hard with him, but I have no doubts he will create big things in his career.”

Linked away

Lookman has been linked with a move away from Everton in the January transfer window.

According to The Daily Star (print edition, page 47, Tuesday, January 8, 2019), Southampton want to sign the young winger from Everton (click here to read more).

Silva’s aforementioned comments suggest that he rates Lookman highly, and that the winger will not leave Everton for Southampton in the January transfer window.
