Everton midfielder James McCarthy could well leave Goodison Park before the end of the week.

McCarthy has barely featured at Everton since breaking his leg, and is now deemed surplus to requirements.
McCarthy did not feature in Everton’s final pre-season friendly.
And Silva claims that the Irish midfielder, who is valued at £10 million (Daily Mail), was not training well enough to earn a spot.
“It’s one possibility of course. Let’s see what the decision will be for the next few days,” he said.
“For this match I went with other players, they worked better during the week and they are more ready to play and to help the team.”

Losing McCarthy is unlikely to be much of a blow to Everton anymore, such is the strength of their squad.
The Toffees have brought in Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin already this summer to strengthen their midfield.
Everton’s first game of the season comes at the weekend when they take on Crystal Palace.
